2024 sees our 50th Anniversary

The Band was formed in 1974 by the Head and Deputy Head teachers of Liss Junior School out of a desire to give the young Brass players leaving the school a way to continue their musical development.  Incredibly, 2 members of the current Band played at the very first rehearsal!  Over the following years, the Band went from strength to strength, developing quickly and growing its membership across a range of age groups.  During it's 50 years, highlights include; concerts at Cathedrals, on the Thames, performances in Denmark, Germany and France, Weddings (including Band members) and numerous Brass Band competitions.  However, the Band has always maintained the core of its activities in Liss and the surrounding area, representing the village with pride at many events such as Remembrance Sunday and last year's Coronation.

This year will be a special year for Liss Band with highlights including a reception for the Band by the Liss Parish Council, a band trip to Devon to take part in a huge Brass Band Festival called Bandemonium and a 50th Anniversary concert on Nov 2nd at the Petersfield Festival Hall.  On top of that, the first official history of the Band is being authored by one of our longest serving players and will be released later this year.

We hope you'll join Liss Band to celebrate its 50th Anniversary!
